Updates from our Reaching Out committee:

We are continuing to support the HUB at Central UC. They are looking for adult clothing, coats and shoes, blankets, hand warmers and sleeping  bags. Outreach has placed a black bin  in the narthex for donations. Please ensure donations are new or gently used, clean and in good condition.  Donations will be delivered each Friday.

 

Today: Sunday March 15 - 10am worship and a celebration of National Affirming Pie Day - join us for coffee and pie following the service.

Why PIE? Public-Intentional-Explicit . Those are the standards we hold ourselves and our welcome to when we seek to live into being fully Affirming. Join us on the 15th after worship service for coffee and PIE.

Telus Tower update.  Terrion, the Telus majority owned Tower Operator, has selected a construction contractor for the tower adjacent to Lakeview United Church. Construction is expected to begin soon. The tower will be built on the  northwest corner of the church property.

 

Sign up sheets for Coffee and Fellowship time for 2026 are on the  bulletin board in the Narthex. Please  consider asking a friend or two to help you fill a spot. 

 

Started Monday March 2 the work for flood mitigation. The lower hall will be sealed off for the month of March. We have moved various tenants to different locations around the building making wider use of the upper hall.  We ask for your patience during the construction.

 

As of Monday March 9th  we are back on water restrictions. This means using compostable coffee cups, etc. These are not to be thrown in the garbage. They go into the bin marked "COMPOST". And, as the church does not have compost bins, someone must take this home and put it in their residential green bins; compostable bags are provided. Thank you helping keep our water usage down.

Next Sanctuary Sounds - Wednesday March 18th…  12 noon - “Celtic Noon” - special guests: Eric MacDonald (guitar) Barbara Rose Olorenshaw (violin) and Cody Obst (piano)

 

Maundy Thursday Mediterranean Feast - Thursday April 2nd at 5:30pm. You are invited to join us - sign up sheets are in the narthex for attending and also looking for help with the meal and preparations.

Lakeview UC provides space to many different community programs as part of our outreach to serve the community.

  • Two 12 Step Programs (Monday and Friday evenings)

  • Jennie Elliot Student Care - before and after school

  • Stagecoach Performing Arts Programs for children on Saturdays

  • Scouts - Beavers and Cubs - Tuesdays - Wednesdays & Thursdays

  • Westwinds Choir - Tuesdays & Wednesdays ( for many years)

  • Children’s Hospital Auxiliary Society (monthly meeting)

  • The Dance Compound  - Tuesdays (children's dance program)

  • Forte Music Studios ( piano instruction and participation in our Sunday School program)

  • EDGE Fellowship Church - every second Sunday

  • ARC of Salvation Spanish Church - Sunday & Thursday evening   

Not only do we serve the community in partnering with these groups, the rental income helps us offset the costs of operating the building - namely the utilities, cleaning and some maintenance as required.
